UNILIT 1320 (TD 13/20)

 MASONRY MORTAR

POINTING AND BEDDING

DESCRIPTION

UNILIT 1320 is a mortar based on natural hydraulic lime and silica sand, of a maximum granulation of 2 mm.  The granulometric curve is ideal (Füller curve).

UNILIT 1320 is particularly suited for the restoration of old masonry and brickwork but is suitable also for use as a mortar for laying stone, block or brick in new construction.

APPLICATION

The natural composition of UNILIT 1320 limits the soluble salts content in the mortar which in turn reduces efflorescence and lime bloom on the surface of the masonry.

The materials are extremely flexible and simple to use.

PREPARATION

The substrate must be clean and free of all traces of oil and grease.  When the substrate has been treated with an impregnating product (silicone and similar) it is recommended to consult the supplier or manufacturer.

UNILIT 1320 mixes with clean water.  Depending on the temperature and substrate 4 to 5 litres of water are mixed with 25 kg of powder.  Mix the mortar with either a concrete mixer or mechanical whisk for a sufficient duration to achieve a creamy consistency which will be naturally light and viscous.

Existing surfaces must be clean and provide sufficient key for the mortar.

The material must not be used if the wall or stonework has been saturated by rainfall, since this will affect the bond of the material or reduce the waterproofing qualities of the mortar itself.

The mortar must not be applied in temperatures below 5°C and must be protected against frost for the first 48 - 72 hours. Equally avoid working in extremes of heat as this will require light and periodic dampening of the curing mortars.

CONSUMPTION

Masonry            40 to 50 kg/m²

Pointing            approx. 10 kg/m², depending on the joint size
