UNILIT 40 (TD 13 FS)

 FINISHING MORTAR

DESCRIPTION

UNILIT 40 is a dry premixed mineral finishing mortar based on hydraulic, naturally pure and selected lime. The product performs perfectly where rising damp / capillary action is prevalent.

UNILIT 40 is characterised by a high impact resistance and is resistant against atmospheric influences.

APPLICATION

UNILIT 40 mortar is water repellent but very vapour permeable and is completely compatible with the UNILIT system as finishing layer. This mortar can also be applied to damp walls of buildings and cellars.

The optimum vapour permeability allows humidity present in the wall to be able to rapidly migrate from the structure and UNILIT 40 will withstand the effects of rising damp / capillary action.

PREPARATION

The substrate must be clean and free of all traces of oil and grease.  When the substrate has been treated with an impregnating product (silicone and similar) it is recommended to consult the supplier or manufacturer.

UNILIT 40 is mixed with clean water.  Depending on the situation and substrate 4 to 5 litres of water are mixed with 25 kg of powder. The mixing can be done either manually or mechanically.  Mixing time : 3 to 5 minutes.  The mortar can be applied directly to either dry or damp substrates.  If the substrate is too dry, dampen down the surface prior to overcoating.

UNILIT 40 is applied in a total layer thickness of 3 to 4 mm.

UNILIT 40 remains workable for 2 hours, in temperatures between 5°C and 40°C.  The drying period is 24 - 48 hours.  It has to be protected from frost for 48 - 72 hours after its application.

If desired, a colour finish can be applied afterward with a lime or silicate paint.  For silicate paint a waiting period of 2 to 3 weeks must be respected.
