UNILIT FEN-X A

NATURAL HYDRAULIC LIME BINDER

 DESCRIPTION

UNILIT FEN-X is an inorganic binder based on natural hydraulic lime.  Pozzolanas can be added if necessary or desired, to adjust the degree of hydraulicity of the product.

UNILIT FEN-X is characterized by a low content of soluble salts.  This binder is perfectly stable and carefully prepared so as to limit problems of micro fissures and premature drying out.

APPLICATION

This binder is specially suitable to be mixed with well-graded, clean and pure sand, to produce mortars for masonry, plasters and renders, even injection mortars for stabilisation and consolidation of walls, etc..

The binder UNILIT FEN-X will store a large quantity of salts which may form in the substrate and migrate due to humidity. UNILIT FEN-X has this capacity due to its natural porosity and its own low soluble salt content.  This characteristic guarantees the performance and extended life of the mortar.

COMSUMPTION

For the formulated mortar, depending on the substrate : approx. 15 to 18 kg/m²/cm layer thickness.

COLOUR

Binder : beige

Mortar : the colour depends on the colour of the sand that is used and of the possible addition of natural ochres.

PREPARATION

The substrate must be clean and free of all traces of oil and grease.  When the substrate has been treated with an impregnating product (silicone or similar), it is recommended to consult the supplier or manufacturer.

FEN-X has to be mixed with a well-graded, pure and clean aggregate, pro rata of 380 to 450 kg of binder per m³ of sand.  In other words : in order to get a coarse mortar you need about 20 to 25% of the binder, and for a fine mortar about 25 to 30% of the binder.  This means an average of 1 volume part of binder for 3 volume parts of sand.

28 % of clean water has to be added to the dry blend to obtain a working consistency.

The mixing has to be done mechanically, for 5 to 8 minutes.  The mortar can be applied manually or by mechanical projection on a slightly humidified substrate.  The mortars are workable for 2 hours. Their drying period is 24 to 48 hours.  They have to be protected from frost and direct sunlight for 48 to 72 hours after their application.

PACKING
