Description

Keim Silangrund is a water-repellent product, based on silanes in an alcohol solution.

Application

Keim Silangrund can be applied on each type of mineral and porous substrates, like bricks, cement and lime renders or plasters, limestone, natural stone, cellular bricks etc.  exposed to extreme weather conditions and salt action.  

Function

Keim Silangrund infiltrates deeply in the pores of a mineral material.  Due to the evaporation of the alcohol solvent, the product will adhere on the pore walls.  The vapour diffusion capacity will be guaranteed and will not be disturbed by the application of Keim Silangrund.

Preparation of the substrate

Keim Silangrund is applied on a clean, porous, fat-free and dust-free substrate.  Polluted substrates have to be cleaned with high-pressured water, former synthetic paints have to be removed.  Dust pulverized substrates.  Natural rock has to be repaired with a mineral mortar, damaged masonry, joints, cracks and loose renders or plasters have to be repaired with UNILIT mortars. 

Processing

Keim Silangrund is applied with a brush or with a low-pressure spray pump, on a clean and dry surface.  The painting is started from below, going upwards with sweeping movements.  The substrate has to be saturated. 

Precautions

Keim Silangrund is highly inflammable, due to the presence of the alcohol solvent.  Do not smoke during the application of the product.  gemakkelijk ontvlambaar aangezien het alcohol bevat. Niet roken tijdens het aanbrengen van het product. Avoid splattering in the eyes and on the skin, by wearing safety goggles and clothes.

Consumption

The mentioned consumption is given for a medium-absorbing substrate.  The exact consumption for a specific substrate can be determined by painting a test surface.  The normal average consumption is about 0,25 l/m².

Storage

Keim Silangrund can be stored for 12 months in a cool but frost-free room.  Close carefully opened cans to avoid moisture infiltration.

Remarks
